📤 How do I send files?
  1. Open the homepage and drag files into the upload zone or click "Browse".
  2. Choose between "Send by email" (enter recipient address) or "Create link only" (to share yourself).
  3. For email delivery: enter your sender address and confirm with the 6-digit code.
  4. Your files are encrypted and uploaded. You receive a tracking ID and the download link.

Free: up to 5 GB, 1 recipient, 7 days retention.

📦 How do I track a transfer?

Go to Track and enter your tracking ID. You can see the current status, file size, expiry date, and whether the download has already occurred.

Status meanings: Ready → the recipient can download. Delivered → email was sent. Downloaded → files were picked up, proof of delivery created. Expired → files were automatically deleted.

🔒 How secure are my files?

Your files are encrypted in your browser before they reach our servers. We never have access to the content.

🇪🇺 Where is my data stored?

Exclusively in Germany. No cloud services, no external CDNs, no third-country transfer. You can export your data anytime in profile settings or completely delete your account.

⚠️ How do I report suspicious transfers?

You can report suspicious transfers using the tracking ID. Our team reviews every case. Repeated reports automatically block the transfer.

My download is not working

"Transfer expired" — The retention period has expired and the files have been deleted. Please ask the sender to create a new transfer.

"Key missing" — The download link is incomplete. Make sure the entire link including the part after the # sign was copied.

Download doesn't start — Check if your browser supports JavaScript and the Web Crypto API. All modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) are supported.

📂 What is File Storage?

File Storage is your encrypted, temporary storage space. Files are automatically deleted after the retention period — Fairsend is not a cloud.

⏱️ How long are my files stored?

Retention depends on your plan: Premium 30 days, Creator+ 90 days, Team 180 days, Enterprise 365 days.

🔄 Can I extend the deadline?

No. Files are permanently deleted after expiry. Download them beforehand.

🔐 Are the files encrypted?

Yes, with AES-256-GCM — identical to sending. The key never leaves your browser.

📤 Can I send files from File Storage?

Yes. Select files and click "Send" — the usual transfer form opens.

✉️ What are encrypted messages?

With Fairsend you can send text messages with end-to-end encryption — via email or as a link.

🔥 What does self-destruct mean?

Messages can automatically self-destruct after reading. The content is irreversibly deleted.

🔗 Can I share messages without email?

Yes! In link mode you get an encrypted link to share via any channel.

🔐 Can I password-protect messages?

Yes, from the Premium plan you can additionally protect messages with a password.
